Decision Overview

The Admission Committees will only consider applicants who have submitted all required materials and completed each step of the admission process. Experienced faculty and administrators comprise the Admission Committees. Each committee will render one of the following decisions and recommend appropriate placement of all accepted students.

Decision Types

Invited
These applicants are qualified to attend Galileo. These students are offered enrollment positions. The school's offer must be accepted or declined by the date specified on the Enrollment Contract. A $1,000 non-refundable tuition deposit must also be submitted at that time.

If The Galileo School does not receive the contract and deposit by the specified date, the opening will be offered to a waitpool applicant. If an applicant chooses to decline the offer, a Decline Admission form is completed and returned in the envelope provided. Students who return their Enrollment Contract and deposit are contractually bound to that enrollment position.

Waitpool
These applicants are qualified to attend Galileo, but all available enrollment positions have been filled.  Instead of being offered an enrollment position, a waitpool position is offered. Waitpools are NOT prioritized waiting lists; when and if an opening arises in a particular grade, the Director of Admission will determine which applicant in the waitpool can best fill that enrollment position.  The waitpool does not carryover from year to year.  Placement in the waitpool one year does not influence admission decisions for any following year in which the student reapplies to Galileo.  The waitpool is disbanded after the second week of the school year and the admission process begins again for interested applicants.

In order to accept the offer of a position in the waitpool, the Waitpool Agreement form must be completed and returned by the specified date. No deposit is required. If Galileo is able to offer an applicant an enrollment position, the applicant family will be contacted by phone. Upon the acceptance of the enrollment position, an Enrollment Contract will be mailed.

If an applicant chooses to decline the offer, this declination should be selected on the Waitpool Agreement form and returned in the envelope provided. The waitpool is disbanded after the first two weeks of school. Waitpools do not carry over from one application year to another.

Non-acceptance
These candidates are not offered enrollment positions at The Galileo School.

Grade Placement

In addition to admission decisions, the Admission Committees determine the placement of the applicant in the appropriate grade level. Occasionally, an applicant may be offered an enrollment position or waitpool position at a level other than that for which he or she applied. In these instances, the Admission Committee has carefully considered the many aspects of the applicant’s profile, including the implications of alternate grade placement for the applicant’s future academic, emotional, and social life, and has decided that placement at another grade level would best ensure success at Galileo.
