Educational Technology
Integrating technology continues to be an area of focus with the introduction of Internet resources in our classrooms. With both classroom and lab connections, the Internet enriches our existing curriculum as teachers and students explore, research, gather information and participate in global projects.
Each class works in the computer lab at least once a week. Our youngest students become familiar with the computer through educational games, and problem solving software. The use of basic drawing and painting tools are taught, and the students learn how to develop slide show presentations. Keyboarding and word processing skills are taught in second and third grades.
Our older students refine their word processing skills, learning to insert graphics into documents, create and use spreadsheets, and publish their writings. Website design and basic computer science techniques are gradually introduced in our curriculm. Our students continue to practice keyboarding skills and web design throughout Grade Four using an individually paced program.
